Step 1 — Adhesive supply. The two-component PU (main agent + hardener) is metered, de-gassed and temperature-controlled in sealed supply tanks. Typical mix ratio is 100 : 30 to 100 : 50 by weight, depending on film and end-use.


Step 2 — Metering and mixing. A precision gear pump meters the two components at the set ratio into a static mixer. The mixed adhesive has a short pot life (usually 20–40 minutes at 25 °C), so it must be coated quickly.


Step 3 — Coating. The adhesive is applied to the primary film at a controlled coat weight — typically 1.5–3.5 g/m² for most packaging laminations — using either a multi-roller applicator (most common) or a slot die.


Step 4 — Lamination and nip. The coated film is mated with the secondary web under a heated nip (50–80 °C). Pressure and temperature are tightly controlled to ensure full wetting without squeeze-out. The laminated web is then wound and sent to a curing room.
