Switchgear | XIAOPAI Power Equipment
Switchgear is the assembled cabinet that houses the switching, protection and control equipment for a medium-voltage circuit. It combines the circuit breaker, disconnector, current and voltage transformers, protection relay and interlocks into one factory-tested cubicle, so the site work is connection rather than assembly.
KEY SPECIFICATIONS
Standard: IEC 61439 for assemblies, with IEC 62271 series for the switching devices
Voltage class: Commonly 12 kV, 24 kV and 35 kV
Breaker options: Withdrawable vacuum circuit breaker (ZN85, VSG) or fixed type depending on duty
Rated current: 630 A to 4000 A typical on the main busbar
Protection: Numerical protection relay with overcurrent, earth fault and optional differential functions
Interlocks: Mechanical and electrical interlocking to prevent racking, earthing or access errors
Internal arc classification: IAC classified designs available for operator safety
Form of separation: Form 2b to Form 4b depending on maintenance philosophy
WHY THIS MATTERS
Factory-built switchgear compresses months of on-site assembly into a tested delivery. For a project with a tight programme or limited site labour, this is usually the deciding factor, not the price of the cubicle itself.
TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
Industrial plant medium-voltage distribution
Commercial building intake and sub-distribution
Utility secondary substations
Renewable energy collection switchgear
Data centre and infrastructure power distribution
Mining, marine and offshore installations
BUYING THROUGH XIAOPAI
XIAOPAI (Wenzhou Xiaopai Power Technology) runs two equipment modules, flexible packaging equipment and power transmission equipment, and works as a foreign-trade service provider and authorized distributor, not a factory. We source power equipment against your specification, then carry the export documentation, factory audit, installation supervision and after-sales that a factory-direct purchase usually leaves to you. Type test reports to IEC 60076 or GB 1094 are supplied with each transformer, and IEC 62271-100 reports with each breaker.
FAQ
Q1: Fixed or withdrawable breaker?
A1: Withdrawable is worth it where you have a maintenance window and a spare cassette, because racking a breaker out takes minutes instead of hours. Fixed type is acceptable in compact or unmanned substations with no maintenance plan.
Q2: What does IEC 61439 cover?
A2: IEC 61439 is the standard for low-voltage and assembled switchgear and controlgear assemblies. The switching devices inside are covered separately, typically by the IEC 62271 series for medium-voltage circuit breakers.
Q3: Can you integrate protection relays we already use?
A3: Yes. Send the relay make and model and we will build the cubicle around it, including wiring, CT and VT matching and interlocking logic.
